Design for speed,
not capacity.

Most valet stands are laid out to hold the most cars. The best ones are laid out to move cars the fastest. Those are different goals - and optimizing for the wrong one is why so many stands gridlock.

The goal was never to fit the most cars at the curb.

For a hotel or condo valet, success isn't density - it's throughput. How many cars can you process per hour without ever blocking an arriving guest? Optimize for that and the entire layout changes.

Split the lanes before anything else

Highest impact

The single biggest layout decision is separating arrival from departure. Share one lane and they fight each other all day.

Speed-first
  • Arrivals never block returns
  • Throughput holds under load
  • Fewer spaces, far more cars served

The speed-first stand, front to back

Once lanes are split, the rest of the layout follows one rule: keep the curb clear and the work hidden.

The curb stays calm and clean; the real choreography happens backstage. Parallel staging beats angled near the door - easier to pull any car out fast.

Layout sets the ceiling. The rest is how you run it.

A speed-first layout removes the structural bottlenecks. But the moves that shave the most time - starting retrieval early, staging by departure, killing the radio relay - are operational, and they're where a connected platform earns its keep.

The takeaway: stop asking “how many cars can I fit?” and start asking “how fast can I move them?” Design the stand for speed, run it with the right tools, and you serve more cars from fewer spaces - which is the whole game.
